Volume 1 of A Cafe in Space marks Anais Nin's centennial, with contributions from the stars of Nin studies and an excerpt from Nin's 1940 diary detailing her increasing despair brought on by having been torn from France by war and the extreme measures she applied to deal with this loss. A picture tour of Nin's birthplace in Neuilly and her legendary house in Louveciennes are included, as well as a walk through Montparnasse by a friend of Lawrence Durrell, who is well familiar with Durrell's and Henry Miller's favorite haunts.
